The Junior League of Monmouth County is extremely fortunate to to have the original and historic Rumson Fire House as the headquarters of our volunteer efforts. The building features exquisite tin walls and ceilings and long-leaf pine floors, both of which are original to the 1906 building and characteristic of its era. Preserving our headquarters building is vital to effectively pursuing our mission of training volunteers and effecting positive change in the community. Headquarters affords our league the invaluable opportunity to conduct both large and small community and training events, as well as fundraisers, at no cost. 55 Center Street is a historic landmark and is our league’s most precious physical asset.

Beginning in 2000, efforts began to restore and preserve our headquarters building for our meetings, training sessions and community functions. Over the past year, our building’s original tin walls and ceiling have been restored, as have the long leaf pine floors. The building features a remodeled kitchen and a new bathroom on each floor. These improvements have already greatly improved the building and have increased income from rental of the space. But there is still more work to be done!
